Role Definition
Our client is looking for a Coating Engineer Subsea to join the Subsea Engineering group and to work for Material Technologies department in the tender and/or execution phase of subsea projects, on engineering activities relating to the selection, qualification and implementation of coating / painting systems on subsea pipelines and associated structures.
As Coating Engineer Subsea, you will be in charge of:
- Selecting the various coatings to be applied (anti-corrosion and thermal insulation on pipelines and subsea structures),
- Preparation, issuing and update of technical documentation (specifications and technical purchase/service requests for the application of coatings),
- Supporting the purchasing team in the evaluation phase of technical offers from Vendors / Subcontractors (review / comment technical documentation, answers to clarifications, preparation of technical bid evaluations),
- Reviewing technical documents from suppliers/subcontractors relating to the application of coatings in factory or on fabrication sites (review / comment process till acceptance of documentation by the Client),
- Assisting in the pre-qualification and pre-production testing phases for the application of coatings at Vendors / subcontractors premises / fabrication yards,
- Attending technical meetings with Vendors/ Subcontractors & Clients.
The Engineer will execute the above activities within his own area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the applicable QA/QC and HSE requirements.
Qualification
- You have an engineering or university degree in the field of materials and polymers.
- You have a first experience in the field of coatings (3-5 years minimum), preferably in the offshore oil industry.
- You also have a good knowledge of the codes and standards applicable to the application of coatings and paintings in this sector for linepipe and subsea structures coatings.
- NACE CIP (Coating Inspector) or ACQPA FROSIO certification is recommended.
- You will have good interpersonal skills. Your curiosity, rigour and organisational skills will be essential to your success.
- English fluent (essential).
- Missions abroad are to be expected : Valid Medical Fitness Certifcate (MFC) complying with the client’s rules for travelling and working abroad.
