Role Definition

Aventa is currently looking to hire an intern in last year of engineering school to join our Engineering Team in Anglet (France). The successful candidate will work on multiple projects in the Offshore Energy Sector.

It is not requested any previous experience in the sector as internal training will be provided. However academic hydrodynamics and/or mechanical knowledge is mandatory. Programming skills are a mandatory for this internship.

The duration of the internship will be 6 months, and it can start anytime between January and May 2025. A financial compensation will be provided.

The internship will be divided into two phases.

1.      Power Cable Database

• Database creation. Objective: Create a reliable power cable database to allow a quick overview of the state of the art of power cable technologies in windfarm industry and allow anticipation about power cable design.

  For this phase of the internship, the student will first need to familiarize with AVENTA activities. After this introduction the student will start to gather all the relevant information related to power cable and think about the architecture of a future database. She/he will need to anticipate the applications and uses of such a database.

  Once the architecture is ready, student will build the database and will fill it with maximum available data. The student will also find new sources to fill in the database.

• Prediction. Objective: Develop algorithms to run on the database to allow anticipating power cable design in a pre-design phase or to fill missing data for ongoing projects.

  For this other part of the internship, the student will be free to suggest any other applications for such a database.

2.      Project application. If the student has demonstrated a good understanding during the first phase of the internship, she/he will be involved into real challenging AVENTA’s project supporting project engineers. The main activities will be as described in the list below but not restricted to:

·        Create numerical models for the project and ensure numerical results are consistent with the physics.

·        Create technical report.

·        Presents her/his results to the team and to the clients.

The student will of course be supervised by the engineers in the office and by her/his internship supervisor.

If student demonstrates a good involvement during the internship a job opportunity could be proposed.
