Offshore Installation Analyst – Internship H/F

Role Definition

Join Aventa as an Offshore Installation Analyst Intern and contribute to evaluating vertical motion for a Cable Lay Vessel using analytical, empirical, and standard tabulation approaches. This analysis will focus on the impacts during submarine cable launching.

Location: Genova Office

Duration: Minimum 6 months

Start Date: June 10

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Remuneration: 800 euros per month + meal vouchers

Introduction:

The tension applied to a submarine cable during installation is a critical parameter in cable design. Sudden tension variations depend on several factors, including sea depth and ship motions caused by environmental conditions along the cable route. Evaluating installation tension well in advance of operations has always been a challenging task for cable manufacturers. The main objective of this internship is to assess installation tension for a nominal cable under various conditions: depth, weather, type of installation vessel, and ship motion calculation methodology. The ultimate goal is to identify correlations between these parameters and the resulting tension.

Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will engage in the following activities:

Model floating structures and subsea assets using specialized software (e.g., Orcaflex, Deeplines, FE tools).

Design and analyze marine operations.

Conduct global and local analyses for offshore structures, including steel structures, submarine cables, and pipelines.

Prepare calculation notes, analysis reports, material specifications, and engineering presentations.

Skills and Competencies to be Acquired:

Understanding of marine energy technology principles.

Familiarity with engineering aspects of offshore structures and installation analysis.

Monthly progress reviews with a personal mentor.

Final evaluation based on task completion and overall performance.

Additional Information:

The internship does not involve job mobility, but occasional client visits may be required.
