The Offshore Installation Superintendent role covers two main functions, Installation Engineer in the office work and Operation Superintendent in the offshore installation sites. You will be involved on several projects around the world.

Role Definition

Aventa is actively looking to hire permanent staff Offshore Installation Superintendent on behalf of his client.

The Installation superintendent role covers two main functions, Installation Engineer in the office work and Operation Superintendent in the offshore installation sites. 

  • Installation Engineer in the office work

Tasks are conducted in coordination with other colleagues of Installation Department and with other functions such as System Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality, Purchasing with the aim of supporting the execution of the submarine systems projects awarded.

YOUR ROLE

Prepare installation documentation for the project execution (usually called “Installation Manual”), mainly including:

  • Operative procedures for the full range of cable installation activities, from the preliminary works (such as route clearance, PLGR, crossing preparation activities) to those ones actually involving the cable handling, such as cable loading, laying, protection by different burial machines.
  • Calculations, drawings, plans, according to need, inorder to support, better present, justify the technical solutions
  • Time schedules of installation works
  • Risk assessments for installation activities
  • Define, select, prepare installation assets (vessels, burial machines, general installation equipment)
  • Cover technical responsibility in the subcontractor selection, starting from the preparation of specification to be used as technical documents in the request for quotation
  • Interact with project Clients, mainly on technical, planning, operative aspects- Prepare As-built documentation during project completion phase (usually called “Final Reports”), mainly gathering all reports, records, certificates, quality documents, etc issued throughout the project execution from all operative sites.

–  Marine Operation Superintendent in the offshore installation sites

This part of the role covers the operative execution on all marine installation sites activities for the implementation of a Project. The activity is carried out mainly on installation vessels or, more in general, on other marine installation sites, such as landing points, offshore platforms, etc.

He/She works in teams of different dimensions depending on the work importance and complexity.

YOUR ROLE Once on site, duties and responsibilities of the Superintendent in the operative execution of cable installation works, include a full variety of aspects:

  • Technical/Quality, with regards to cable and equipment management and installation procedures, in compliance with specification and Project documentation
  • Health and Safety, for all personnel involved in the operations and reporting to the installation team
  • Environment, as far as compliance with statutory and Company policy to preserve the environment and prevent pollution are concerned (not excluding suitable measures of standard practice)
  • Company Asset Care, for preliminary verification of test/certification, correct use during operations and respect of predefined maintenance for all assets, from the vessels and burial/subsea machines to all installation equipment and tools
  • Project constraints and specification, as far as thespecific Contract clauses are concerned
  • Operative Schedule, in terms of efficiency and respectof plans
  • Client relationship care, with the Client Representatives present on site
  • Supervision of Subcontractors during the installation phase (including once more all above aspects, Technical, Quality, HSE,Contract, etc)
  • Interface with Installation Department Management and other Company Departments, mainly Project Management, Manufacturing, System Engineering, Quality, in terms of regular, suitable and correct reporting

Qualification

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, aeronautical).
  • 3/5 years max experience 
  • Good-Fluent knowledge of English language (spoken and written)

Minimum Experience and Skills:

  • Procedures and technologies for laying submarine cables- Basic knowledge of high voltage cables and accessories- Previous experience in offshore operational environments and site management.
  • Good HSE culture.
  • Focus on technical aspects and quality assurance together with basic understanding of main economic and contractual notions related to a EPCI Project.
  • Team working, ability to build interpersonal relationship in an international environment
