Role Definition

We are looking for a Pipelines Engineer.

In short: In this secondment, you will primarily support large-scale engineering projects for hydrogen and carbon dioxide (C)2 for Gasunie or Aardgasdomenin projects.

You’ll work as an engineer in the pipelines department. This department handles all issues related to underground (main) pipelines for district heating networks, the transport and distribution of energy carriers, chemicals, drinking water, and wastewater.

What does this function entail:

• You carry out route studies and strength calculations, as well as hydraulic calculations and soil mechanical calculations;

• You work independently and proactively with (lead) engineers and designers on mono- and multidisciplinary projects and therefore frequently contact with colleagues.

You will carry out small to medium-sized projects yourself, managing your team members. For larger projects, you will offer support to the lead engineers;

• There is intensive contact with stakeholders both within and outside the company. Internally, you are the link between the designers and the lead engineers. Externally, you assist the lead engineer in contacting the client and all parties in the public space

You will manage contacts for medium-sized projects yourself. Parties in the public space include public stakeholders such as municipalities, provinces and water boards and private parties such as cable and pipeline owners, suppliers and contractors;

• Due to the great diversity of projects you come into contact with many facets of the field, which means there is plenty of variation and development in your activities;

• You draw up a personal development plan in consultation with your manager and receive ample coaching and guidance from your team

Depending on your ambition, you can grow into a lead engineer, discipline specialist or project manager.

What do you have to offer:

• You have completed a technical HBO or WO education in, for example, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or geotechnics;

• You have 5 to 8 years of work experience as an (underground infrastructure) engineer;

• You have experience with geographic information systems, (soil) mechanics, fluid dynamics and preferably with finite elements plan;

• You have knowledge of software packages such as PLE, Ansys, Wanda (Heat), D-Geo, ArcGIS;

• Experience with multidisciplinary projects is an advantage;

• You have strong communication skills, speak/write in English as easily as in Dutch (must) and preferably have experience in managing teams.
