Role Definition

Since 2015, our client has been developing biomethane production activity. Its business entity, created in 2023, is responsible for the development of renewable and low carbon gas production in Europe.

Our client determined to become a leading player in biomethane production in Europe with more than 10 TWh in 2035. The strategy is to increase the installed base, through the development of greenfield projects and M&A, to inject biomethane into the gas grid or to produce bio-LNG. Its entity already has biomethane production plants in operation in countries such as France, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Belgium, and projects are under development in other countries of Europe.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project cost control and reporting:

• Lead the cost control activities for assigned projects, ensuring accurate tracking of budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.

• Develop and maintain project-specific cost control files and dashboards.

• Monitor and analyse cost variances and trends, proposing corrective actions when needed.

• Ensure timely and accurate monthly cost reports and forecasts.

• Support the Project Managers in the preparation of project financial reviews and reporting to management.

Contract and Change Management Support

• Verify applications for payment from Contractors, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and project progress.

• Support the financial assessment of change orders and claims.

• Maintain a live change log and ensure proper documentation of cost impacts.

• Collaborate with Execution Project Managers, Conract Managers, and/or Procurement,

to ensure cost control alignment with contractual obligations.

Transversal PMO tasks (when applicable):

• Lead the implementation of a standardized cost control methodology across RGE projects that is compliant with ENGIE financial guidelines.

• Lead the deployment of cost control tools across RGE projects.

• Develop and maintain the Projects Quality Management System (QMS) related to cost control: process, procedures, and templates, an lead its deployment.

• Consolidate cost data and reporting from all projects for portfolio-level analysis and decision-making.

• Contribute to transversal project reviews, producing clear and comprehensive cost reports in alignment with applicable procedures and needs.

• Contribute to the definition of manpower rates and the control of manhours, and verify the assignment of costs to projects.

• Contribute to RGE cost forecast.

• Perform audits and peer reviews.

Stakeholder Management and training

• Ensure cost data is properly stored and organized for auditability.

• Provide training and guidance to project teams on cost control processes and tools.

• Establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting a cost-conscious culture.

• Establish a good collaboration with Finance cost control teams that ensures compliance with requirements and needs.

LOCATION

2 days of teleworking as per local policy, and some travel to project locations within Europe (when applicable).

MAIN INTERFACES

The Project Cost Controller will interact with, among others:

• Project team members: Project Managers, Project Planners, Contract Managers, Site Managers, Project Procurement Managers, Engineers, etc.

• Contractors’ personnel

• Finance and Controlling teams

• Project Management Office (PMO) team

QUALIFICATION, COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

Degree and experience:

• University degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance Controlling, or equivalent background.

• At least 5 years’ experience in a cost control role for industrial projects (bioenergy, energy, chemicals, water/waste treatment) in an EPC, EPCM, or Contractor organization, preferably on an international scale.

• Experience in developing and implementing cost control tools and dashboards.

• Experience abroad and/or working within multicultural teams.

Languages:

• Ability to work in English and in the local language, interacting with international teams.

Skills:

• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

• High sense of rigor and attention to detail.

• Proactive problem-solving attitude and ability to propose value-added solutions.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• High proficiency in Excel and cost control tools (e.g., SAP, PowerBi).

• Familiarity with project management platforms such as PROCORE and SharePoint.

• Ability to produce clear and concise reports.
