Role Definition
The Subsea Structure Engineer is responsible for the engineering design, verification, installation support, and integrity assurance of subsea structures used in shallow-water offshore developments. These include manifolds, PLETs, PLEMs, jumpers, tie-in structures, pipeline supports, and foundations.
Engineering Design & Analysis
· Perform structural strength, global/local analysis, and fatigue assessments.
· Evaluate hydrodynamic loading and soil–structure interaction.
· Review FE models using ANSYS, Abaqus, SACS, OrcaFlex.
· Ensure compliance with DNV, API 17D, API RP 2A, ISO 13628.
Structural Layout & Deliverables
· Develop GA drawings, structural layouts, foundations, mudmats.
· Review protection structures (mattresses, rock dumping).
· Prepare interface drawings with pipeline, controls, and umbilicals.
3. Installation Engineering Support
· Provide input for lifting design, rigging, and handling.
· Review procedures for lowering, positioning, and tie-in.
· Support offshore campaigns during load-out, transport, and installation.
4. Interface & Coordination
· Coordinate with pipeline, controls, umbilical, and geotechnical disciplines.
· Support fabrication yard (welding, NDT, coatings).
· Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, constructability and model reviews.
5. Material & Fabrication Support
· Review WPS/PQR, NDT plans, coatings, and fabrication tolerances.
· Support FAT/SIT related to structural components.
Integrity & Operational Support
· Support in-service integrity assessment.
· Review ROV/Diver inspection and as-built reports.
· Update structural models for life-of-field evaluation.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
· Master’s degree in Offshore/Structural/Ocean Engineering (preferred).
· 5–12 years’ subsea/offshore structural engineering experience.
· Proficiency with ANSYS, Abaqus, SACS, or OrcaFlex.
· Knowledge of API, DNV, ISO standards.
· Offshore exposure (installation, inspection, FAT/SIT) preferred.
· Strong communication, problem-solving, and interface skills.
