The company covers the full lifecycle of nearshore cable works: installation engineering, analysis, methodology development, and operational support. With offices in Paris and the UK, it works across European offshore wind, HVDC interconnector, and O&G subsea pipeline projects. The team is expanding and is looking for experienced Installation Engineers to lead its technical delivery.
Description
Senior Installation Engineer
Leads the technical engineering of shallow water cable installation projects autonomously. Produces and owns all installation analysis and methodology deliverables. Interfaces directly with clients, marine warranty surveyors, and project teams. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience — direct shallow water or nearshore exposure essential.
Lead Installation Engineer
Technical leadership of the installation engineering team. Owns the engineering programme for multiple projects simultaneously. Acts as the principal technical point of contact for clients and MWS. Mentors and develops the team. Minimum 12 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated leadership of engineering deliverables on live projects.
Technical scope
Both positions cover the engineering of shallow water cable installation operations — cable lay, pull-in, beach approaches, transition zones, and nearshore corridors, typically in water depths below 20–30 metres. Experience with offshore O&G flexible or rigid pipeline installation is explicitly acceptable as a background.
• Installation analysis: numerical modelling of cable/pipeline behaviour during lay operations using OrcaFlex or equivalent — cable tension, catenary shape, touch-down dynamics, seabed interaction, cable protection verification in shallow water conditions
• Installation methodology: development and review of installation procedures, method statements, cable pull-in sequences, HDD exit analysis, beach approach design, cable protection strategies for nearshore environments
• Technical interface: responses to MWS technical queries, client engineering reviews, HAZID/HAZOP participation, approval package preparation
Key responsibilities
Technical delivery — both levels
• Produce and review installation analyses for shallow water cable lay using OrcaFlex or equivalent: tension envelopes, catenary configurations, touch-down monitoring parameters, dynamic load cases, seabed interaction
• Develop and own installation procedures and method statements for nearshore and shallow water cable/pipeline lay: pull-in sequences, cable protection design, HDD exit studies, transition zone procedures, beach approach analysis
• Produce and review engineering calculation notes, technical specifications, and installation design documentation to client and MWS standards
• Interface with marine warranty surveyors (MWS): prepare technical submissions, respond to technical queries, support approval processes
• Participate in and lead installation engineering reviews: HAZID, HAZOP, design reviews, operational readiness reviews
• Support field operations during campaign execution: respond to technical queries from vessel teams, review as-installed deviations, participate in post-campaign technical close-out
Lead Installation Engineer — additional responsibilities
• Lead the installation engineering team: allocate work, review and approve deliverables, ensure quality and schedule compliance across the engineering programme
• Own the engineering deliverable register and the engineering execution plan for assigned projects
• Act as the principal engineering interface for project clients: attend technical meetings, manage client engineering interfaces, issue formal technical responses
• Develop and mentor Senior and Junior Engineers within the team
• Contribute to business development: technical input to tender responses, scope definition, and engineering proposals for new shallow water installation projects
Required Qualification
Education
• Engineering degree (BEng / MEng / MSc) in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, marine engineering, offshore engineering, or a related discipline
Experience — must-have for both levels
• Demonstrable hands-on experience in subsea cable or offshore pipeline installation engineering, with direct exposure to shallow water or nearshore environments — this is the critical differentiator
• OrcaFlex or equivalent: hands-on, model-building level — able to set up, run, and interpret installation analyses independently
• Experience developing installation procedures and method statements for cable lay or pipeline lay in shallow / nearshore / transition zone environments
• Marine warranty survey (MWS) interface: experience preparing MWS submissions and responding to MWS technical queries
Senior Engineer (8–12 years):
• Autonomous technical delivery: owns analysis and methodology deliverables end-to-end with no hand-holding required
• Direct client and MWS technical interface experience
Lead Engineer (12+ years):
• Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and deliverable programmes on live projects
• Track record of managing engineering scope, schedule, and quality with direct client accountability
• Experience contributing to technical proposals and scopes of work for new projects
Nice-to-have (both):
• Experience with HDD exit design, cable pull-in analysis, and nearshore cable protection design
• O&G flexible or rigid pipeline installation background — explicitly acceptable as an alternative to cable-specific experience
• French language capability — beneficial for the Paris office environment and French project client interfaces
