Project Snapshot
This assignment covers the turbine-side commissioning phase of a large-scale offshore wind farm in the English Channel. The Commissioning Supervisor is responsible for executing safe switching and commissioning activities at wind turbine generator (WTG) and turbine platform (TP) level - covering electrical isolations, LOTO processes, energisation of WTG equipment, and functional testing in compliance with project specifications, electrical safety rules, and HSE standards, ahead of handover to the O&M team.
Description
The Commissioning Supervisor (WTG & Turbine Platform) supports the offshore wind farm commissioning team in executing safe switching operations and commissioning activities at turbine level. The role covers WTG switchgear operations, inter-array cable isolations at the turbine side, SCADA integration checks, and electrical protection system testing, working within the Permit to Work framework under the coordination of the Senior Authorized Person and Commissioning Manager.
Reporting line: Reports to the Senior Authorized Person (SAP) or Commissioning Manager; interfaces with the Control Engineer, WTG OEM technicians, HSE team, and O&M team.
Electrical Safety and Switching Operations
• Execute switching activities at WTG and turbine platform level safely, following approved switching schedules and electrical safety rules
• Prepare and implement safe LOTO processes for WTG isolations; verify all isolations are correctly documented before and after execution
• Energise and de-energise WTG electrical equipment within the Permit to Work system; coordinate with the SAP for OSS-level switching sequences
• Follow Inter Array Cable test procedures at turbine side; ensure equipment preparation for safe test execution
WTG and TP Commissioning Execution
• Participate in WTG commissioning tests to verify compliance with project specifications; record all switching activities and test results
• Perform pre-energisation and post-energisation inspections at turbine level; conduct site walk-downs and condition checks on turbine platforms and inter-array cable terminations
• Support SCADA integration checks and functional testing at WTG level; contribute to electrical protection system testing and settings verification
• Identify and report quality issues and outstanding works; escalate non-conformances through the commissioning manager
HSE, Reporting and Site Coordination
• Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with project HSE rules, local legislation, and Employer requirements
• Attend and lead toolbox talks and asset inductions at WTG and TP level; enforce Electrical Safety Rules on site
• Report HSE issues promptly; maintain required safety standards throughout commissioning activities
• Take part in daily site meetings; submit end-of-shift handover reports and contribute to proactive communication across the commissioning team
Documentation and O&M Handover
• Review, prepare, and align commissioning and maintenance documentation to project templates at WTG level
• Perform and record cargo operations as required; contribute to site logistics at turbine platform level
• Support the preparation and facilitation of the commissioning-to-O&M handover documentation at turbine level
Key deliverables
• Switching schedules executed safely at WTG level in compliance with project electrical safety rules
• LOTO processes implemented and isolations verified and documented correctly before energisation
• WTG commissioning tests conducted and compliance with project specifications confirmed and recorded
• SCADA integration checks and electrical protection tests completed and results documented
• End-of-shift handover reports submitted and commissioning documentation prepared for O&M handover
Required Qualification
Education
• Technical degree, BTS, or vocational qualification in electrical engineering or equivalent practical background
• Electrical habilitation per NF C18-510: H2V, B2V, HC, BC, BR - mandatory
Experience
Must-have:
• Experience in offshore wind commissioning at WTG or turbine platform level
• Hands-on experience in switching operations and LOTO within a Permit to Work system in an offshore environment
• Valid GWO certifications: 5 standard modules (BST/BOSIET, FAW, MH, FA, WAH), plus EFA and ART
• Valid offshore medical certificate
Nice-to-have:
• Specialisation in SCADA systems: integration testing, configuration, and troubleshooting at WTG level
• Experience in electrical protection system testing, commissioning, and settings verification
• Previous experience working on a Service Operations Vessel (SOV)
• Familiarity with offshore substation (OSS) commissioning processes
Technical skills
• Switching operations and LOTO management on MV/HV WTG equipment
• SCADA integration and functional testing at WTG level (desirable)
• Electrical protection commissioning and testing (desirable)
• Commissioning documentation, Permit to Work systems, and progress reporting
• MS Office (Word, Excel) for reporting
Soft skills
• Methodical and safety-conscious; strong attention to electrical safety procedures
• Team player; works effectively in multicultural offshore environments under the coordination of a senior SAP
• Clear communicator; able to report issues efficiently and contribute to daily site coordination
