INSTALLATION ENGINEER – SUBSEA CABLES

Published on July 8, 2026

Description

Project scope

The assignment supports the client's installation organisation on a multi-year programme of subsea power cable works in shallow-water and intertidal environments in northern Germany. The works are delivered in partnership with a specialist marine and subsea installation contractor, and the role is embedded on-site at that contractor's offices to provide close, day-to-day oversight of its engineering activities and technical documentation.

The engineering scope covers construction and mobilisation of subsea assets and cable-protection works, including trenching and jetting, cable burial and protection, and the associated survey, method statement, and documentation deliverables produced by the installation contractor for the client.

Role overview

To act as the client's embedded technical representative at the installation contractor's offices - monitoring the contractor's engineering activities, reviewing and following up the technical documentation it produces, and ensuring that installation solutions are delivered to the highest standards of cost, quality, and safety across the shallow-water cable scope.

Reporting line: You report to the client's installation organisation and provide regular updates on the contractor's document status, technical discussions, and any site activities monitored.

  • Assess construction and mobilisation plans for subsea assets against the client's scope of work

  • Critically evaluate technical information and identify risks to schedule, quality, and safety

Interface and reporting

  • Confer with the contractor, end clients, and authorities to resolve comments on installation documentation

  • Report to the client's installation organisation on document status, technical meetings, and monitored site activities

  • Support alignment between the contractor's deliverables and the client's technical and regulatory requirements

Key deliverables

  • Contractor engineering activities monitored on-site and reported against the installation programme

  • Method statements and installation procedures reviewed and technically assessed across the shallow-water scope
