About the client

Our client is a confidential national electricity transmission system operator (TSO), responsible for balancing electricity production and consumption and for developing, executing and operating the onshore and offshore national grid. It is delivering an ambitious offshore wind grid-connection programme (HVAC and HVDC) as part of the energy transition, from the offshore substation to the onshore grid.

Project scope

Within the client's national grid engineering expertise centre, in the offshore substations division, the SCADA & Control System Engineer owns the specifications for offshore substation control systems (SCADA and control) and for the platform's secondary systems (video surveillance, alarms, passenger-announcement, maritime and aerial beacons, radio and weather stations), across a portfolio of offshore wind grid-connection projects (HVAC and HVDC). The role writes and updates the technical repository, delivers specifications for all projects, supports tender evaluation and monitors contract execution and compliance. Full-time onsite in Paris-La Defense, for around one year (extendable).

Required Qualification

Role overview

To own the SCADA, control and secondary-system technical specifications for offshore substations across the client's offshore grid-connection portfolio, supporting tenders and execution.

Reporting line: You will be coordinated by the offshore substations SCADA & Control System Leader and report to the offshore substations head of division, coordinating with the Control & Protection and IT & Telecom departments.

Key responsibilities

SCADA, control and secondary systems

• Own the specifications for offshore substation control systems (SCADA and control) and write and update the technical repository

• Deliver specifications (Employer Requirement Specifications) for all offshore substation projects

• Handle the specifications for secondary systems: video surveillance, alarms, passenger-announcement, maritime and aerial beacons, radio and weather stations

Tenders and execution

• Participate in the technical evaluation of calls for tender

• Monitor contract execution and compliance with the specifications

Coordination

• Coordinate with the expertise-centre experts, the Control & Protection department and the IT & Telecom department

Key deliverables

• Technical specifications (ERS) delivered for SCADA/control and secondary systems

• Technical repository written and kept up to date

• Tender technical evaluations contributed

• Contract execution monitored for compliance with specifications

Requirements

Education

Engineering degree in electrical, control systems or automation engineering.

Experience

• Must-have: Senior (8-11 years) experience in SCADA / control systems engineering, ideally for substations or the electrical grid

• Must-have: Writing technical specifications / requirements (ERS) for control systems

• Must-have: Technical evaluation of tenders and knowledge of substation secondary systems

• Nice-to-have: Offshore substation / HV grid / offshore wind grid-connection experience

Technical skills

• SCADA and control systems for substations

• Substation secondary systems and technical specification (ERS) writing

Soft skills

• Expert, autonomous and collaborative, coordinating across technical departments

• French - fluent; English - professional
