Project Management Support – Regulation & Commercial

Published on October 8, 2026

Project Snapshot

Context

Our client is a major Irish energy utility operating one of Ireland's most critical electricity distribution networks — connecting homes, businesses, and industrial customers across the country to the national grid. As Ireland's energy landscape undergoes rapid transformation — driven by accelerating renewable energy penetration, the electrification of transport and heating, and a surge in large-scale demand from data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, and industrial customers — the pressure on the distribution network and on the processes that govern access to it has never been greater.

The Regulation & Commercial team is responsible for managing the commercial and regulatory aspects of grid connections — including the processes by which large demand customers (data centres, industrial facilities, large commercial developments) apply for, negotiate, and receive new or increased connections to the distribution system. These processes are complex, multi-party, and have historically been a source of friction for customers — leading to this dedicated project to redesign and improve them.
