Description
Our client is a confidential major international EPCI contractor in offshore and subsea construction, whose subsea engineering organisation prepares engineering for projects worldwide. Established project, engineering and QHSE teams support the full scope, from design through to offshore execution.
Project scope
The assignment supports riser engineering for subsea projects. The engineer defines riser system architecture, performs and verifies global dynamic analyses under various loads and environmental conditions, writes design bases, material technical specifications and installation procedures, and supports the technical evaluation of supplier offers. The role ensures compliance with recognised industry codes (API, DNV, ISO), client specifications and internal standards, monitors supplier progress with the Post Order function, and follows fabrication and testing with ad-hoc supplier missions. Onsite in the Paris area, 12 months from ASAP.
Required Qualification
Role overview
To deliver riser engineering for subsea projects, from architecture and global analysis to design documentation and supplier evaluation, in compliance with industry codes.
Reporting line: You will report to the project / riser engineering lead (exact reporting line to be confirmed), working autonomously and interfacing with the associated subsea disciplines, suppliers and the Post Order function.
Key responsibilities
Riser design and analysis
• Define riser system architecture
• Perform and verify global dynamic analyses under various loads and environmental conditions
• Write design bases, material technical specifications and installation procedures
Standards and compliance
• Ensure the design complies with recognised industry codes, standards and guidance (API, DNV, ISO), client specifications, scope of work and internal standards
Supplier and project interfaces
• Support the technical evaluation of supplier offers and supplier selection, interfacing with suppliers and procurement
• Monitor overall project planning and supplier progress and compliance, in close interface with the Post Order function
• Follow fabrication and testing actively, with ad-hoc missions at suppliers, and liaise with the associated subsea disciplines
Key deliverables
• Riser system architecture defined and global dynamic analyses verified
• Design bases, material specifications and installation procedures issued
• Supplier offers technically evaluated and selection supported
• Supplier fabrication and testing monitored to standards and schedule
Education
Engineering degree (design office background) in a relevant discipline.
Experience
• Must-have: Confirmed experience in riser engineering on Oil and Gas / subsea projects
• Must-have: Riser system architecture and global dynamic analysis under environmental loads
• Must-have: Knowledge of industry codes and standards (API, DNV, ISO)
• Nice-to-have: Experience supporting supplier evaluation, fabrication follow-up and Post Order interfaces
Technical skills
• Global dynamic analysis: OrcaFlex; Shear 7
• Python; riser design to API/DNV/ISO
Soft skills
• Autonomous and rigorous, comfortable interfacing across disciplines and with suppliers
• English - professional level, written and spoken, mandatory
