Senior Cable Installation engineer (Germany offshore wind project)

Role Definition

We are looking on behalf of one of our clients for a  Senior Cable Expert for a newly established bidding team. 

Main tasks:

• Participation in tendering and award procedures including the preparation of tender documents, specialist support during negotiations and assessment of offers
• Preparation of technical specifications and technical evaluation of tender documentation

Project Management for following offshore works:

• Installation of nearshore sections of grid connection systems, including shallow water section cable installation and cable pull-in into prior installed ducts
• Dredging, excavation, boulder clearance, seabed reinstatement
• Installation of offshore joints and submarine HV cables accessories
• Installation of offshore sections of grid connection systems including cable pull-in to offshore substations,

Project Management for following onshore works:

• Installation of onshore sections of grid connection systems including beach crossing by means of HDD, tunnelling or similar up to battery limits with offshore section and onshore substation
• Implementing assessments of already conducted studies, considering calculations from the project- and the consortia partners
• Providing cost-competitive cable concepts for the projects
• Developing new concepts and creating and challenging technical parameters of existing or proposed concepts

Qualification

• Proven track record as a Project Manager for offshore installation works, ideally of submarine HV cables or pipelines in the Baltic Sea or areas with similar soil conditions
• Experience as a Project Engineer in the following fields: Shallow water installation technology for HV submarine cables including anchored barges, vibro injector and chain cutter, DP installation technologies and respective installation tools such as cable plough or jetting and trenching ROVs, dredging technologies such as BHD, TSHD, shallow water anchored/spud leg dredgers, backfilling technologies, rock dumping, seabed intervention technologies
• Further experience in the following fields: Shore pulls into HDD ducts or comparable, lay and burial (SLB), post lay burial (PLB) HV cable methods, OSS cable pull-in and respective OSS works, installation of HVAC or HVDC cable systems, inspections on network control technology and network protection technology, transformer tests and commissioning tests
• Experience in handling of dredging contracts and offshore borrow areas as well as onshore spoil grounds preferred
• Profound expertise (over 3 years) in system design and installation planning
• Technician within an electrotechnical qualification, or certified Electrician, or EIP (Electrically Instructed Person)
• Internationally experienced team player who can work effectively with different cultures and diverse teams
• Experience in handling diverse stakeholder management in complex infrastructure projects
